SEO Fear Mongering

Wanted to talk about “Fear-Mongering”. Seem to be happening a lot lately. But I wanted to talk about website related instead.

Sometime hearing clients mentioned about “post 1 article at least bi-weekly, if not Google will abandon your website”.

I mean, for those who knows, knows above is not really a true statement.

But I also don’t want to shoot it down, because I think maybe it needed a bit more explanation?

It is good to post at least 1 article at least bi-weekly, is not bad advice. But saying Google will abandon the website, that’s just fear mongering.

Although Google might crawl your website more if it is frequently updated, but it won’t outright abandon and stop crawling in just 2 weeks.

Then why the fear mongering?

I not sure, but maybe is just to make clients be more active in posting content to the website?

Or just a sales tactic to get clients worry about their website doesn’t show up in Google, then convincing them to enroll in their services?
